Habersham ready to celebrate 200th Birthday!

CORNELIA, GA- Habersham County is getting ready to celebrate the county’s 200th birthday with a huge bash!
The Habersham County Bicentennial Committee will host a birthday celebration in conjunction with Christmas in the Park on Saturday, December 15 from noon-2 p.m. at the Cornelia Community House, 601 Wyly Street.
The Habersham County Bicentennial Committee has been working tirelessly over the last year to make sure that Habersham County knows how much it’s loved!
“Habersham County was founded on December 15, 1818. Throughout 2017 and 2018, the Habersham County Community has come together to celebrate this milestone occasion,” said Habersham County Commission Chairman Victor Anderson. “We invite and encourage everyone in our community, and neighboring communities, to join us for this special event being held on the anniversary date of our county’s founding.”
The Habersham County Christmas parade will also be held in downtown Cornelia on Saturday, December 15 at 10 a.m. and the theme is “Bicentennial Birthday.”
The community is encouraged to attend the parade and then make their way to the Community House for the celebration.
Party guests can enjoy a slice of birthday cake, register for door prizes (birthday gifts) and be present for special speakers and presentations.
The Bicentennial Committee will also sell commemorative Christmas ornaments exclusively at this event. These are “once-in-a-lifetime” collectibles. Cash or check only will be accepted and the price will be $10.
